These doggie scarves are quick, easy, and inexpensive to make. They are being modeled by my very cute granddogs Emma and Rachael. With all the fabrics available you can make one for holidays, birthdays, and other theme occasions. Cats look cute in these too and with the velcro closure you don’t need to worry about them strangling themselves.
Materials:
- For a small dog you only need a piece of fabric that is 12″ long. Rachael is a Jack Russel Terrier and she wears the small size. She is the one my son is holding so that gives you an idea of her size.
- For a medium dog you will need a piece that is 13 1/2 ” long. Emma, pictured with my daughter in law, weighs about 25 lbs.
- For a large dog you will need a piece about 25″ long.
- A small piece of velcro.
Step 1.
Cut your pattern pieces as shown in the picture. For a better fit measure your dogs neck and add 4″. This will allow a 2″ overlap on each end. Pin the pattern piece to the fabric on the fold as shown in the picture and then cut it out.
Step 2.
Narrow hem the scarf all the way around.
Step 3.
Before you sew on the velcro put the scarf around your pets neck and then carefully pin the velcro on so that it’s not too loose and not too tight. When you have it where you want it stitch it on and you’re done!
