Fall fabric garland for Thanksgiving

These flags are really easy to sew and make a great decoration for fall or for Thanksgiving.

Materials:

  • 1/4  yd of coordinating fabrics ( I used five different fabrics)
  • 3/4  yard of fabric to use as a backing for flags
  • little leaves or any kind of trinket to put on bottom of flags
  • ribbon

Step 1.

Using the pattern cut out fabric pieces. I used five different fabrics. Also cut out a back for each of the flags using the 3/4  yard of  fabric.

Step 2.

Put the fabric and the backing together, right sides together and stitch along edge leaving the top open.

Step 3.

Turn to outside and press.  Stitch the top of flags together using a zig zag or finishing stitch.

Step 4.

Lay out your flags in the order you want them. Cut a piece of decorative ribbon that is slightly longer than the length of your flags. Start sewing the flags to the ribbon as shown. Leave extra ribbon at both ends to hang the flags.

Step 5.

Hand stitch a leaf to the tip of each flag.

About Elaine Kazinec

I have never met anyone who can't make wonderful things for their homes, friends, and family, only those who think they can't. The purpose of this blog is to show everyone how really simple most projects for the home are to make. When my husband and I bought our first home we were short on cash so I learned to be long on creativity. I have been told that I can make something wonderful out of nothing and that is true. You can too! Some of my favorite things are items that I found in someone's junk pile. I am going to show you how easy it really is. I hope you find the courage to jump in and attempt some of these projects. You will be amazed at how talented you really are.
