I am delighted to introduce my newest grandbaby, Charlie. He is a sweet and adorable baby who loves to be snuggled so I made him some snuggly bath towels. These are easy and inexpensive to make, especially if you make your own seam binding from flannel like I did.
Materials:
- 1 yard soft terrycloth
- 1 yard flannel fabric
Step 1.
Cut the terrycloth to measure 36″ x 36″. Fold one of the corners back as shown and then trace around the triangle and use this as a cutting guide for the hood. Cut one triangle from the flannel fabric and one from the terrycloth.
Step 2.
Making your own seam binding.
Draw lines diagonally across your fabric as shown. Cutting them this way allows it to stretch a little and fit better around corners. It also eliminates bunching. After you cut them pin, right sides together, as shown in picture. Stitch together until you have enough to go around blanket and one piece long enough to go across bottom part of triangle.
Step 3.
Press under a quarter inch on each side of strip. Now fold in half and press well.
Step 4.
Put your flannel and terrycloth triangles together (wrong sides together) and stitch along edge.
Open seam binding and then pin to long edge of triangle piece. Stitch. Now fold it over to the other side and stitch.
Step 5.
Pin the triangle piece onto one of the corners of the towel and stitch around edge. I rounded off the corners of towel to make it easier to attach the seam binding. Open up the seam binding and pin it around the entire edge of the towel and stitch. Make sure to stitch through all layers on the hood portion of the towel. Now turn the seam binding to the other side and stitch along edge.
I love the pictures. They look very cute and lovable. I will try what you written.
