Christmas Holiday Crafts – Wire Garland – Easy Project

Wire Garland on a Christmas Tree This project is great for holding up heavy ornaments on your Christmas tree and for stringing up stockings. It’s a great project for beginners and almost any fabric can be used.

Wire Garland Completed

Materials:

  • Rebar tie wire ( You can get this at Lowes, Home Depot etc… It’s inexpensive and comes in single rolls).
  • Cotton quilting fabric torn into 1 ½ inch strips. (You can purchase 1 yard of fabric and tie strips together).
  • Contrasting fabric torn into ½ inch strips to tie bells onto garland.
  • Bells

Step 3B

Step 1.

Cut wire to desired length and bend one end of wire over and attach fabric strip with a knot. (see instructions for tearing fabric strips below. ). Begin wrapping being careful to keep the fabric tight over the wire. When you reach the end tie a knot and bend the end of the wire to secure.

Step 3A

Step 2.

Slip a ¼ inch fabric strip through bell and attach to wire at various intervals with a bow.

Step 3CStep 3D

Fabric strips: Use lightweight cotton quilting fabrics in 1 yard or longer lengths. These can be torn into almost any width and will tear evenly from almost any good quality quilting fabric. I tie the long pieces together with knots and then roll into a ball for storage.

About Elaine Kazinec

I have never met anyone who can't make wonderful things for their homes, friends, and family, only those who think they can't. The purpose of this blog is to show everyone how really simple most projects for the home are to make. When my husband and I bought our first home we were short on cash so I learned to be long on creativity. I have been told that I can make something wonderful out of nothing and that is true. You can too! Some of my favorite things are items that I found in someone's junk pile. I am going to show you how easy it really is. I hope you find the courage to jump in and attempt some of these projects. You will be amazed at how talented you really are.
