This is a fun way to fix a pair of jeans that have become worn from dragging on the ground. You’d think someone who sews as much as I do wouldn’t have jeans dragging around on the ground but I do. You can use lace or fabric or just about anything you want which is what makes this project fun.
Materials:
- Pair of jeans
- Enough lace or fabric to go around both cuffs. (Allow an extra inch for a half inch seam allowance for each cuff.
Step 1. Cut lace to fit around each cuff plus 1/2 inch extra for seam allowance on each cuff. Put right sides of lace together and stitch a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Turn lace band so that the seam is on the inside of the cuff. Now slip it over the outside of the jeans seam on seam and position it so that the bottom of the band is at the length you want it to be. Pin it into place and then stitch each band to the jeans cuff.
Step 2.
Since I used lace I decided to add some ribbon to the lace. You can put the ribbon in by weaving it in and out of the lace with a darning needle. Leave some extra ribbon when you pull it through so that you can tie a bow.
Step 3.
If you’d like to add some ribbon to the pockets it’s easy to do but it helps to have some rivet pliers. I got mine at a fabric store in the snap and rivet section. They are inexpensive and are useful for more than just applying snaps and rivets. With your pliers punch holes along the edge of the pockets. Then take a darning needle and use it to thread the ribbon in and out through the holes. Leave extra ribbon so you can tie a bow when you’re done.
